Emergency Radio Communications Network - Victoria

During emergency situations ERCN stations will be monitoring and relaying local information on 27Mhz Channel 30LSB and UHF Channel 30

ERCN is about sharing information to keep well informed

The ERCN operates on a simple concept. When there is an incident in your area, radio operators can have a channel to go to and know that others in their area will be tuning into the same channel to share their observations knowlege and concerns.

Severe Weather Warning
for flash flooding
for people in the Western, North Central, Northern Country, Wimmera, Mallee,
Alpine Areas and Northeast forecast districts.

Issued at 10:23 pm EST on Friday 3 September 2010.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system centred just west of Adelaide will continue to intensify
as it moves southeastwards across southwestern Victoria during Saturday to be
near Tasmania Saturday night. The low will then move rapidly away to the
southeast on Sunday.


Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms which may lead to flash flooding for the
Northern Country, North Central, Northeast, Wimmera, Mallee, Alpine Areas and
Western forecast districts.

Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms have already affected parts of northwest
Victoria Friday evening with heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms expected to
extend to the above districts during Saturday morning. Widespread falls of 30
to 60mm expected across northern Victoria and along the central and western
ranges and falls reaching 100 to 150mm or higher over the northeastern ranges.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
  - Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
  - Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
  - For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 am EST Saturday.

This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau's
website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300-659-217*.

The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate this warning being
broadcast regularly.
